It’s not the easiest thing in the world to go directly from the office to a dinner date (or cocktail party) as a woman.
Not only are you going to have to shift gears from your professional demeanour, but you’re also going to think about how your make-up and your outfit plays off of your night-time activities.
Most of the time (not all of the time, but definitely most of the time), your daytime look in your night-time look isn’t going to sync up quite as well as you were hoping!
Now, obviously, there are a lot of different things you can do to make a transition between daytime and night-time considerably easier – especially when it comes to the way you do your make-up.
We’ve included a bunch of tips and tricks below to help you do exactly that, giving you every “insider secret” we could think of to help make this transition at least a little bit easier.
Ready to get started?
Let’s dive right in!
Keep things simple, silly
The first (and maybe the most important) thing you need to think about when you are serious about being able to transition from daytime make-up to night-time make-up is that the simpler you keep things, the easier it’s all going to be.
Too terribly many when spend a ridiculous amount of time each and every morning really dolling themselves up for the office, only to realize that when the clock finally rings five they have to do a tremendous amount of “clean-up” just to get back to a blank slate – and then spend an almost ridiculous amount of time AGAIN reapplying their make-up for the night.
Who has time to do all of that?
Nobody, that’s who!
What you’re going to want to do instead is stick to a more simplified and streamlined palette and look that you will work off of that the office. You might not be able to pull off quite as “interesting” looks as you were before, but you’re going to be able to spend a lot less time in the office bathroom dolling yourself up for a night out on the town!
Try to keep things as simple as possible, you won’t regret it!
Make a “go-bag” and keep it on you all the time
Secondly, you’re going to want to create a little “go-bag” filled with just about everything you need to completely overhaul your daytime look into a much more night-time focused one.
This is a lot easier said than done.
You’re going to want to take a good, long, hard look at all of the cosmetics that you own, and really try to think of a couple of “staple” looks that you can pull off with just about any of the outfits that you plan to wear out on the town.
From there, you’ll want to assemble all of those cosmetic options together into a tiny little kit. This might include four of five different key pieces (or maybe even a few more), but you’ll want to try and keep it as slim and as streamlined as you can.
Once you’ve taken care of this, you’ll be able to quickly transition from a date kind look to a night-time look with zero headache or hassle whatsoever – all without having to run back to your place!
Always (ALWAYS) go with name brand cosmetics
I’d love nothing more than to tell you that you can find some really significant bargains shopping for off-brand cosmetic options, but the truth of the matter is you usually (again, not always – but usually) get what you pay for in the cosmetics world.
There is a real reason why so many of the top brands in the cosmetics space are able to charge premium prices for their products – they work a lot better than the off-brand “competitors” could ever hope to!
Not only that, but they also are more consistent in their finish that they produce, and also usually won’t have the same kind of impact on your skin that solutions that use second tier or lower level ingredients will.
If you are serious about looking your very best in keeping your skin healthy and clear at the same time, you cannot afford to skimp on your cosmetics.
This is especially true if you want to be able to quickly flip from a daytime look to a night-time one with zero extra effort.
Keep yourself moisturised at all times!
One of the most essential things you can do to make sure that quality cosmetics “take to” your face without any streaks, smears, or patchiness is to make sure that you are always as well hydrated and moisturised as humanly possible.
You’re going to want to make sure that you are drinking enough water throughout the day, but also that you are regularly applying foundations were concealers that use tinted moisturisers or even adding a bit of extra moisturiser around lunchtime – and especially right before you head out of the office for the rest of the day.
Moisturising your skin is going to be a big piece of the puzzle when it comes to easily transitioning from a daytime look to a night-time look.
Focus on the “Big Three”
If you really want to make sure that you look absolutely fantastic regardless of the time on the clock, you’re going to want to focus on the “Big Three”.
We’re talking of course about your eyes, your lips, and the rest of your face – usually in that order.
Definitely come up with a specific style, aesthetic design, or “mood” that you want to create with your cosmetics, and then pick one highlight feature to really make the star of the show. From there, flesh out the rest of the Big Three to complement that star of the show, and you will be off to the races!
Sure, a lot of this is easier said than done, but at the end of the day it really isn’t all that difficult to go from a daytime look to a night-time one – especially when you use the insider information included in this quick guide.
Best of luck!
